If you are one who uses your modem phone book from time to time, then its more likely that you have either encountered this error “Cannot Write The Phone Book File” and or will soon face it since its an error which happens unexpectedly from time to time.
Like you may have realised in some of my past posts about what I use when connecting to the internet – USB dongles and Broadband devices for example Huawei, ZTE and others, it means that I too use the device’s phone book since it helps me save some important numbers and entries I may need in future for example when sending text messages and SMS’ directly using my Modem.
Now it so happens that I at one time ended up seeing the Cannot Write The Phone Book File error which prompted me to look out for a solution and which you will soon discover too assuming you are looking for a fix and below we go.
What Causes The Error Above?
The error is mostly likely caused by a protected write access or a damaged .pbk (phone book file) which can occur as a result of either a manual change or a system error.
How To Fix/Solve The Problem?
1. Start by accessing the Rasphone.pbk file which can be found in the User Files under Network Connections for the different Operating Systems.
2. Select properties by right clicking on the above and uncheck the Read Only box and then save settings.
The error will no longer show and you will be able to save your entries once again easily.
