1. Begin by switching off your smartphone by using the Power button.
2. Remove the battery for a few seconds and re-insert it in.
3. Now press and hold keys Volume Up and Volume down plus Power at once for a few seconds
4. Release the Power key immediately after a vibration or when the phone goes on and continue holding the other keys.
5. Release other keys when the Logo logo appears.
6. Navigate using the Volume + key and select Recovery mode.
7. Press and hold the vol +, vol – and the power key to enter recovery mode.
8. Using the Volume Down key, scroll to Wipe data / factory reset, and use the Volume up key to confirm.
9. Use the Volume down key, Select YES — delete all user data, and confirm with the power key.

Now wait for the process to complete. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is just like all other Android devices when it comes to wiping data. The process time may range but for some seconds. Once its done, use the volume + key and confirm reboot. It will take longer but still wait until you are done. Thats all. Your Android smartphone has been hard reset.
