How To Add A Custom WordPress Auto Text When Creating New Posts

Also known as WordPress preset text when creating new posts, adding your own custom and automatic texts when creating a new post is one thing every webmaster or a wordpress powered website owner should try out for one reason or the other. Personally, this is one thing I took a long time looking for although the fact was that the availability of the different tutorials on the same never helped me out since many of them ended up causing errors thus meaning a whole restarting of action not until I managed to find the best way, tested on this very blog and proved it to be worth using.

Having a custom/preset text on all of your posts when creating them is one thing which helps many to overcome the hassle of having to re-type the same text or message again and again whenever one creates a new post for example adding a line like this below,

This is my own reason for using this option but others may have their own reasons as to why they would decide to take on this for example adding share buttons (not using the plugin way), an external link and any other. In case you are one of those who have been like me, then just count it done since following the procedures below will help you to have your own preset text on your WordPress site whenever you are composing a new post..Keep reading.

Enter your email, select new user, enter name, wait, add and finish all using this Free.

1. Access your WordPress site using your desired File Transfer Protocol or manager for example FileZilla or Net2Ftp.

2. Open public_html folder or any other location where your website files are located and go to wp-content, themes and choose your active theme.

3. Scroll down and look out for “functions.php” file without quotes and click on view/edit.

4. Scroll down immediately before the closing “?>” tag and add the below lines above it.

add_filter( ‘default_content’, ‘my_editor_content’ );

function my_editor_content( $content ) {

$content = ‘ REPLACE THIS TEXT WITH YOUR PRESET TEXT’;

return $content;
}

5. Save the functions.php file and upload it back on your servers.

Your new text will be showing right away the moment your try to create a new post.
