By KWS Adams Oct 22, 2014

This article helps in troubleshooting accessing the internet in Windows while having a VPN installed or configured for example a PPTP. It so happens that many people do set up virtual private networks on their computers for purposes of routing to their remote servers other than connecting to the different websites and other online pages where by in any attempt to create a connection to any other page, many fail to surf due to the different errors.

The thing is that this problem of failing to access the different pages can easily be solved although its only that many don’t know how to go about it and which is why in this post, I will take you through the step by step guide to have it solved and below we go.

Procedures To  Access The Internet Using Windows Default Connection

1. Go to your Network connections.

2. Right click on your VPN connection and hit Properties.

3. Under Networking, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and go to properties.

4. Click on Advanced and Uncheck box next to Use default gateway on remote network.

That is it, you will now be able to surf the different internet pages using your default while using your VPN for accessing your remote connections.

  1. Thankyou for your great help.

Though i have one issue can you guide about the way to bind specific traffic to vpn?
mean a specific site. As u already told the way to direct all the traffic to default isp. now there comes a scenario where we bind some website to vpn.

    1. I am not sure of the best VPN since it all depends on the features one is looking for. You can try the different ones offered either for free or for a pay.
