Stranded with Google Chrome error of “NET::ERR_CERT_WEAK_SIGNATURE_ALGORITHM – Your connection is not private, Attackers might be trying to steal your information from www.website.com (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards)”? For the entire past week, I out of blue started seeing this error everytime I could try to access the different sites using Google Chrome. Each time I made an attempt for example to search anything from Google.com website, the browser wouldn’t allow me get results apart from seeing error “Your connection is not private. Attackers might be trying to steal your information from www.google.com (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards). NET::ERR_CERT_WEAK_SIGNATURE_ALGORITHM. Automatically report details of possible security incidents to Google. Privacy policy”.

I tried searching for instant solutions and fixes to this but all in vain. I even reached an extent of downloading malware bites, scanned my computer but still in vain. I uninstalled Google chrome, reinstalled it and in vain. I reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows, installed all my programs I use including Chrome and still failed. I followed the different guides online but still failed.

I reached an extent of stopping to use Chrome as my browser but again, I couldn’t since this is my best one among all other browsers. It’s at this moment that I thought of something, and which seemed to give me a clue, and finally the working solution. I tested non secured sites (those which don’t have SSL certificates installed) and they worked. This helped me think of something and indeed, that was the error cause.

Steps to follow and fix the above error

If you are too suffering from error “Your connection is not private. Attackers might be trying to steal your information from www.google.com (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards). NET::ERR_CERT_WEAK_SIGNATURE_ALGORITHM. Automatically report details of possible security incidents to Google. Privacy policy”, below is the solution you can try out,and only if you are using an Anti virus program on your computer.

1. Close Google chrome browser
2. Launch your Anti virus program and onto its settings page
3. Disable HTTPS scanning and save settings.

If you are using Avast Anti Virus, follow this;. Double click on Avast icon, click on settings, click active protection, click customize under webs shield, uncheck box next to Enable HTTPS scanning and save settings. Launch Google chrome browser again and you will be ready to surf all sites include those with SSL certificates enabled and those without.
