Wondering how to go about adding another class in your Uganda driving permit? Stranded on what to do and how to do it with regard to performing a drivers license extension? This guide is for you and a must read. Just like I shared with you in my other post about Obtaining the different classes of driving permit in Uganda, yes fact is that certain procedures must be followed.
In order for one to drive additional motor vehicle types legally on Ugandan roads, addition of the matching driving permit class is requires since the different classes allows you to drive the different motor vehicles types. An example is driving permit class B is only limited to 7 passengers and up to 3.5 tonnes for goods vehicles. On the other hand, Class DL allows you to drive up to 14 passengers for PSV vehicles. I am sure you can see the difference.
In order for one to be able to drive a matching vehicle category as the class of permit, one needs to perform a permit extension assuming one has a class which is different from the vehicle one wants to drive. And below are procedures for getting another driving permit class or an extension. Please note that your age and entire permit life should match the class you are getting.
Pay test fees
Begin by paying the testing fees which you can generate by going online as shown below.
- Visit URA web portal and to eServices.
- Click payment registration and tick NTR box.
- Select Test Fees (per class) and fill all other required information.
- Select the bank of choice, enter letters and submit form.
- Verify the input details and print the payment slip.
- Go to the selected bank and make a payment.
Go to IOV and do the test of the additional class (es)

Please note that the photocopy of your valid driving permit should act as your learners permit for the new class of vehicles. In case of motor cycles, then of course get a learners permit of that class.

Attach and proceed Face Technologies
Attach the test slip (photocopy of driving permit which contains the competence of class), the bank payment slip for extension, the UCDP medical form and the original driving permit and submit to Face technologies. Upon verification of your competence and payment, you will be given a temporary driving license containing your class and be told when to pick your ready UCDP permit.
In case you are performing a driving permit renew together with a class, you should process the renew papers and hand them at the same time.

You can add a class in case the number of years since the first issue matches the required number of years to obtain the class you want to extend.
Hey guys am Ivan,I have class B already renewed now it has 6years driving experience,so my QN is since getting class DL requires you to be above 25years with 5years driving experience can I jump class CM and I add in DL?I will be greatful if u answer me
You are very right. You can jump over the CM and add DL assuming you have five years experience.
I have class B lincence for 6 years and it has two weeks renewed third time and my qn is can I add cm and dl at same time when its still new?
You have got 6 years experience. An extension requires at least 3 years, and which you already have. Go for it. Process your extension and upgrade to the class you want to. In the meantime, make sure you have reached the minimum required age for extension
I got class Cm in 2016 then after 4months I added class DL, is it possible to add class DM and CH both at the same time when I’ve spent 3years with them? Thanks

Your money determines your class for as long as you qualify… Also your current class matters a lot.
