Why you need a KRA PIN Number?

The KRA PIN number acts as a gateway to lots of services including getting an employment opportunity, opening a bank account, applying for a quick loans, registration of motor vehicles and motor cycles, clearing of imported and exported goods, VAT applications, company and business registration.

Additionally, the same PIN is verfy useful when it comes to obtaining a trading licence, services bidding, underwriting, payment of power deposits, supply of goods and services, stamping of instruments, registration of titles, etc. This number is supposed to show on all return documents, statements and others.

Instructions to apply & Obtain a KRA PIN Number

  • Visit the “KRA website”
  • Navigate to “PIN”
  • Click on “Register for New PIN”.
  • Select r”esident, non resident or company”
  • Fill in all the “required information”
  • Enter “Applicant birth year”
  • Click “validate”

Note: Personal required information including id number, applicant date of birth, applicant district of birth, mother’s last name and father’s last name must be filled with care and one confirming that what you filled is what exactly it should be.

Upon successful completion of PIN registration, verification and validation of your application, the system will allocate and send to you a free PIN, a Password and a Security Stamp through the email address you provided. Then you will be able to request a new password and do anything else as recommended. How long does it take to get a kra pin may varry.

Applying for KRA PIN Number Dormancy

  • Log into “iTax”
  • Click “E-dormancy” under registration
  • Select “dormancy” under tax obligation
  • Select “period of dormancy”
  • Enter “reason for dormancy application”
  • Click “submit”

Note: Your application will be reviewed and either approved or rejected depending on supporting documents submitted. Also, until you recieve a communication, your PIN will remain active and you will be subject to paying all your taxes.

How to cancel KRA PIN Number

  • Log into “iTax”
  • Click “E-cancellation” under registration
  • Select “cancellation” under tax obligation
  • Enter “reason for cancellation application”
  • Click “submit”

Note: Your application will be reviewed and either approved or rejected depending on supporting documents submitted. Also, until you recieve a communication, your PIN will remain active and you will be subject to paying all your taxes.
