The Program

The goal of BEQUAL is to ensure all girls and boys, especially those experiencing disadvantage, complete a quality basic education to achieve literacy, numeracy and other life skills. The program will address education policy, planning and coordination, increased child participation in and access to basic education, teacher education, curriculum and teaching and learning materials and improved school infrastructure.

Coffey through BEQUAL is currently seeking applications for a key specialist position to contribute to program goals.

The Position

The Primary Language Education Consultant will work as part of a team, including a Lao Language Linguist, to assist the Lao Language Curriculum writing team from the Research Institute for Educational Sciences (RIES) in Lao PDR. This position will provide technical input into developing a draft Lao Language developmental continuum and learning outcomes for the Primary Curriculum Framework for Lao PDR. The Consultant will also contribute to the preparation and delivery of professional development workshops for curriculum writers.

The Person

We are seeking applicants with relevant post graduate qualifications; combined with practical experience in developing language learning curriculum for primary or pre-primary students and teaching experience, preferably in the early years. Knowledge of second language learning and teaching research and methodologies for developing countries is required for success. Previous experience preparing and facilitating workshops will be highly regarded.
