PayPal Account Access Limited – Another Phishing Email I Got This Week

By KWS Adams Sep 20, 2014

This time round, my PayPal account looked to have been the target and if you are one who too got a related PayPal Account Access Limited email, I am sure we are in a same boat. Just a few days after I got a fake email with regard to my Godaddy account posing a security risk after the mail reported how I had more than a dozen of directories and I was required to create a tmp folder to handle that, this time round things changes and the target was PayPal.

Its true that I once owned a PayPal account which was receiving a lot of account access attempts, something which forced me to close it until further notice, there came an email which I automatically knew it was phishing since I had no active account at the time of the email.

The email read how PayPal required me to submit my account details so that you would offer a more secured way of protecting my account but guess what, the link these phishing guys provided was redirecting to a different page which looked similar to PayPal’s website including all images which further alerted me that it was a non-legitimate email.

Just like I shared how I closed my PayPal account before getting this mail, on entering the information including a wrong email and password took me to another page where I was asked to enter my credit card details and banking information which I never did.

If you have a PayPal account, you should be aware of such happening on the internet from time to time and it might be you the next target. You should never provide your account information and nor your credit/debit card details to anyone more especially when asked through an email link.

PayPal and other service providers have their own ways they address their clients for example Dear Mr KWS Adams other than Dear customer/client or any other. In no way will PayPal ask redirect you to another website when you need to provide your information so please stay watching and alert.
