For those whose phone’s operating system version can be upgraded, upgrading your mobile to the latest version of the OS can help solve this. Since the problem is on the OS rather than the mobile itself, upgrading for example from iOS 7 to iOS 8 can solve this. Refer to your device settings on how to upgrade to the latest OS.
2. Purchase a new supported mobile
Yes, buying a new phone in the supported devices list can help solve this error of “Can’t register with this phone number. You can only register with the phone number that was used with Whatsapp on this phone”. Why? Most of the newest mobile devices have newest OS which means that they are compatible to Whatsapp requirements.
Things to note: For Windows phone users, you will no longer be able to use Whatsapp come December 31, 2020. Whatsapp recommends using devices running on Android OS 4.0.3+, iPhone iOS 8+, KaiOS 2.5.1+, etc.
