Ways To Find Forgotten iPhone Passcode
Before you proceed with any recovery option, first make sure that the password you are entering is the correct one, or that you entered it correctly. Sometimes a small typo mistake can cause confusion, for example when you use a Capital letter instead of a small letter, or use the letter O instead of Zero. If you correct the above and still doesn’t work, you might try restarting your iPhone by holding the down t and power buttons, and then sliding to power off. Wait for your iPhone to restart and attempt to enter your passcode again. If it fails, follow the below instructions.
Use the Forgot Passcode option
The forgot passcode option is an inbuilt feature that should allow you to reset your password easily by accessing your Apple ID and iCloud account. You only need internet access on your iPhone to get started. Follow the on-screen instructions from A-Z.
Use the Reset and Restore iPhone option
In case using the correct password didn’t work out for you including the forgot password option, you can go for the reset and restore of iPhone using iTunes. This requires your iPhone to be connected to iTunes via computer where selecting the device allows you to restore your device to factory settings. Keep in mind that this will erase all data on your device, so it is important to do a data backup if you can before attempting.
How to Update Your iPhone Password
Updating your iPhone password means changing it. If you had previously set the hardest passcode and want to set something a bit easy when it comes to remembering it, follow the instructions below.
- Tap the “Settings” app on your iPhone.
- Scroll and tap on “Face ID & Passcode.
- Enter your “Current passcode”.
- Tap on “Change Password.
- Enter “New numeric passcode or customize it by tapping on “Passcode Options” for options like a custom alphanumeric code or a 4-digit numeric code.
- Confirm your new passcode.
Note: While it is very important to choose a strong passcode, I advise you to choose one that you can remember easily as this helps you avoid forgetting it, something that can lead to restoring your device to factory settings.
